Say it isn't so... IT ISN'T SO!

"PARIS - The director of the Tour de France said it was a "proven scientific fact" that Lance Armstrong had a performance-boosting drug in his body during his 1999 Tour win, and that the seven-time champion owed fans an explanation."

The title of this post may not make much sense, but this should... "I CALL BULLSHIT!". Those French fuckers have been after Armstrong for LITERALLY 6 years. Now, I'm not an expert on the Tour De France (or as us folk in Kansas call it, "That Bike Race") and I have NO idea what kind of shit Lance Armstrong has or has not taken... but I do know this... The French HATE the fact that an American has won their precious BIKE race 7 times in a row.

With all that said, here's what I want to know: First, the urine sample they tested was from 1999. That piss is 6 fucking years old. Second, who can verify that sample wasn't contaminated? PROVE to me nobody fucked with the 6 year old piss. Third, the lab that did this testing said they could not confirm that it was a sample from Lance Armstrong. But L'Equipe (a frigging newspaper) says it can. The only thing associated with the sample is a six digit number. They claim they know it was Armstrong's because the six digit number on the sample matched some other six digit number associated with some other tests done by other doctors on Armstrong. Ok, if there is a privacy concern, why would you use the same numbers on multiple tests?

"Five-time cycling champion Miguel Indurain said he couldn't understand why scientists would use samples from the 1999 Tour for their tests.
"That seems bizarre, and I don't know who would have the authorization to do it," he told L'Equipe. "I don't even know if it's legal to keep these samples."

My question exactly! Was this even legal? This is the same issue I have with the whole Mark McGwire deal. Everyone THINKS he used steroids, he looks like he may have used steroids, but did he? I don't know. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. As far as I'm concerned, McGwire may or may not have used 'roids and Lance may or may not have used EPO (a red blood-cell booster). What matters is this... neither one of them say they did it, neither one of them were caught doing, so neither one of them is guilty of doping.

This whole thing with L'Equipe is this... "L'Equipe is owned by the Amaury Group whose subsidiary, Amaury Sport Organization, organizes the Tour de France and other sporting events. The paper often questioned Armstrong's clean record and frequently took jabs at him — portraying him as too arrogant, too corporate and too good to be real." IT IS A WITCH HUNT. L'Equipe doesn't like the fact that an American dominated their sorry asses for 7 straight years so they are trying to tarnish it.

HEY, you L'Equipe jackasses! HE RETIRED. He's done with your stupid fucking BIKE RACE! Get over it and move on for fucks sake.

Is it me or do the French suck?

*Update - Lance is now saying he's being set-up and an independent doctor is questioning the veracity of the tests by saying that EPO is very fragile and he doesn't see how it would continue to show up in a urine sample over 6 years after the sample was given. Hmmmm.... sounds to me like L'Equipe may have some 'splainin to do!

  • The problem with success is that there's always someone waiting to say you cheated.

Both McGwire and Armstrong have great achievements to their names and, sadly, it's only par for the course that some saddo will try to tarnish their reputations.

Unfortunate and wrong but, as the french would say, C'est La Vie
